The PowerBlock

Go beyond Lucas-- Upgrade to a Relayed Switching & Advanced Wired Platform and Get All the Juice You Need!

Up until now, the MGB or Triumph owner has had only two options for improving the electrical systems in their cars: buy an OEM replacement or one of the many aftermarket wiring systems designed for street rods or custom cars. An OEM replacement only solves some of your problems, but doesn't solve any of the original design deficencies. You're still stuck with poor lighting, slow wipers, and sluggish heater fans caused by voltage drops through the old, worn out switches. The aftermarked kits available up until now are excellent, but they are not designed for an MGB or a Triumph, nor do they solve the problems with old switches. The majority of these kits are designed to mate with the GM steering column and the GM switches that are almost universally used in street rods, not for the switches we have.

The instructions supplied with these kits (usually pictorials) are quite clear if you are using these GM style components, but if not, you will have a heck of a time trying to figure out how to mate one of these kits to your car. Typical of the instructions supplied with these kits is this excerpt: "if you are not using a GM switch, you will have to trace out your wiring to determine how to wire the switch." Huh? How much help is that?

None of them have enough relays to take the load off your OEM switches. Without the relays, corroded contacts in the switches will still have voltage drops that will leave you with dim lights and may even cause the switches to heat up enough to cause a fire. Replacing these switches is expensive and time consuming, and without reducing the loads, the switches will deteriate rapidly, setting you right back where you were.

01/01/2008 - a Little Elf Magic

Folks, I'm glad to announce that my Son, Nico, will become much more involved in the Business in 2008-- He's gonna be 13 this year, and as all of us know... most Teenagers need Money to Support their Lifestyles ;-) Now, that I have his Motivation maybe we can Catch Up a Bit on our Mile long Production Line.

This Week, Nico will be working on putting together Split Shipments and Shipping them out the Door while I continue to plug away on building Accessories & Powerblocks. Meanwhile, I will be busy on the phone ordering more Hardware & Wire for this Month's needs.

Next week, I hope to start training Nico on Powerblock pre-assembly now that his hands are big enough to terminate wires & such. Nico is a very sharp craftsman, so I have every confidence in the World that He'll deliver to me a Fine piece for me to Continue building towards the Finished product.

Somewhere this January, I will make the Time for Developing a full Business Plan that I will use as a Tool for my Venture Capital Quest in 2008! If anybody Feels they can Contribute to the Process... please by all means Drop me a Email ;-) I will be updating our Portfolio site at http://mcce-port.blogspot.com/ with the Business Plan and Notes during our Journey. The Split Shipment Method

Folks,

I have created a New Method, what I hope to be the Best Way, that will Allow me to Push move Powerblocks out the Door much, much, Faster than Before! ... for One Troll ;-)

I have added (2) New Sections to the FIFO Hopper labeled, "Split Shipments" & "The Powerblock Queue". Currently, each Powerblock Kit is shipped in (2) individual USPS boxes for Domestic shipping, One box for International shipments. My Expectation for this New Method is to Balance the Yin & Yang between Assembly & Refurbishment Turnaround Time by my Vendors-- Especially, my Wire Vendors ;-)

For Right Now expect your Kits to arrive in (2) separate Time Periods:

First - Off Panel Wire, Hardware, Manual, & Invoice
Later - The Powerblock

A Plus Factor regarding this method is that you can Complete up to 50% of your installation while Waiting for Your Powerblock to Come. When your Powerblock comes you will only have to Hook up the connections under the Bonnet & under the Dash-- and You are Done!

Mr. Craig from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida suggests:

This split shipment method is really not that bad, overwhelming at first.

I wired the incidentals in less than 15 hours, which is right 50% of 30 hours (as the car was already dismantled and I have been studying the schematics for months I had a jump start)

A good idea would be to amend the instructions as to alleviate this lost feeling:

o When the first box arrives start at the Alternator (which was already changed to a GM type) Run all that to the inside of the car, Run Coil, oil switch, brake failure switch, water temp sending unit, etc…

o Then go to back of car start with Red driving lights, then go to Brake lights, reverse lights, fuel gauge, grounds, etc…

o Next you can pre-wire the dash while waiting for the Block to arrive.

Once the block arrives, mount it, and then run your lines out to the dash, head lights, etc…

This was real easy!"

I believe by Focusing & Shipping in Segments we can better Interface with Our Suppliers as to when they can Re-Supply Us in a Timely Fashion... and that we Don't Lose our Minds in the Process.

At the Moment Inventory is literally Flying Off the Shelves-- each Powerblock kit requires 100s of pieces of Components & Hardware, Plus 800 feet of Wire! An Inventory Tracking system that Automates inventory levels based upon On Hand quantities would be Nice!... and So would a Yacht in the Backyard be too ;-)

The diagrams are printed on 11" X 17" paper to make them more legible, so if your color printer won't print on that size paper, you can take the PDF file to your local copy shop - Kinkos, Staples, etc, - and ask them to print them for you. This is a bit costly, so you may want to print only the pages for your car, rather than the whole set.

During normal Sales, for every Powerblock sold we assume $20 of the International shipping charges. But, when we have a Sales Special we have reduced the sales price by $50; therefore, we must recover the assumed $20 International shipping charges in order not to wind up with a $70 Discount.
